After nine months of searching for Brighton’s best burger, we finally get to our most anticipated review; Trollburger. After all the praise we’ve heard, did it live up to our high expectations?

It had been a few weeks since we last treated ourselves to a lunch time burger so we thought we should go big or go home and decided to finally go to Trollburger (Formerly The Trolls Pantry). There was no end to the online praise and recommendations from those who have tried them so our expectations were pretty high, whatever we chose had to be the best.

We usually go with our gut and we both love a bit of spice so we landed on the new Dragonfire Mountain: Organic beef patty, duck confit, chilli chocolate bacon jam, chilli rum BBQ sauce, chilli cheese and chilli mayo in a brioche bun. If you like to drool then follow Trollburger on Facebook, Paul’s always got something cooking: www.facebook.com/organicdirtyburgers. Or check out his lovely new website: www.thetrollspantry.co.uk

We paid £13 for that bad boy and it was worth it and then some. The burger was put together in no time and presented on a metal tray and wax paper, simple and easy. It was a warm sunny day out which was lovely as there is only outside seating. You can’t beat eating outside on a nice day and it just enhanced the experience.

We gave the burger a score out of 10 in 5 categories which are: Juiciness, Bun, Flavour, Stability and Value for Money. The patty was perfectly cooked and worked brilliantly with the duck confit which was a beautiful blend of tender and crunchy meat, coated in an unbelievable chilli rum BBQ sauce. The chilli chocolate bacon jam also added a lovely punch to the flavour and the chilli cheese was nice and gooey and not lost amongst all the other ingredients.

Overall this burger was delicious and the presentation was handled perfectly. As for a few things we think could be improved, the bottom bun gets lost as you hold it and before you know it it’s in pieces. That being said, it didn’t affect our enjoyment.

The Dragonfire Mountain is undoubtedly our new number one, but if you want to try one for yourself you’ll want to get down there quick as the menu is constantly updated to make use of the fresh local ingredients that are available. However, with so many delicious options on the menu, you can’t go wrong.

We hope that this post can tantalize your taste buds and if you do give Trollburger a try please comment to let us know what you thought about it.
