We were completely blown away this week when we went the extra mile to the East Street Tap and tried the Burger Kult’s Death Jam Burger…

When we set off we first headed for Stock Burger Co. but after discovering that they were closed we trekked further and found ourselves joining a kult at the East Street Tap and did not regret it. The kitchen is run by Burger Kult; the first kitchen we’ve visited that serves only burgers and they didn’t disappoint.

The menu was so varied that we struggled to agree on a burger to review but we eventually landed on the Death Jam Burger. “Butter-griddled ground chuck steak with homemade chilli, bacon & Bourbon jam; topped with melted St Giles cheese, fresh rocket, shaved red onion, sliced plum tomatoes & mayonnaise. Finished with Black Magic Sauce and served in a buttered & toasted demi brioche bun.” Check out Burger Kult’s full menu here: www.burgerkult.co.uk

On it’s own the Death Jam costs £11 but if you want to double up you can for £15. You can also spend a few extra pounds for some maple bacon, extra cheese and more sauces. The pub itself: like a lot of the bars we visit, was rustic and industrial with with some cool decorations like neon lights, a pin-ball machine and even a fish tank.

We gave the burger a score out of 10 in 5 categories which are: Juiciness, Bun, Flavour, Stability and Value for Money. As for a few things we think could be improved, the chilli could have had more of a kick to it and was not evenly distributed throughout. We were overjoyed when we compiled our final scores.

The Death Jam was amazing and we can not begin to imagine some of the other tasty sounding burgers on the Burger Kult’s menu. We will be back soon! We hope that this post can tantalize your taste buds and if you give the burger a try please comment to let us know what you thought about it.
