Personas

In-depth marketing personas (or avatars) can help you wade through the mire and target the people for you. Don’t know what a persona is? No worries.

A persona is the description of a fictional person that represents your audience. Nail this, get into your potential buyer’s psyche and the world is your oyster. Personas should be extremely detailed to capture your target demographic’s needs and desires:

  • Age, location, income, hobbies, family, relationships
  • Favourite TV shows
  • Social media used
  • Information and literature consumed

  • What do they want from personal/work life?
  • What are they searching for on Google?
  • What trends or influencers are they following?
  • What motivates them and gets them out of bed in the morning?
  • What are their aspirations, deepest hopes and fears, their secret desires (physical, emotional, spiritual, financial)?

Once you’ve homed in on your ideal customer you can create a bespoke strategy with dazzling content that appeals to them. Advertise on sites that will resonate with them, saving money and increasing your ROI (Return on Investment).

One size doesn’t fit all. Develop more than one persona for each area of business, around 3-5.

Compelling copy

Now you have your target avatar, it’s time to capture their attention with your amazing product or service.  You have a pretty good idea of what they want, need and desire from the personas, so you can allay any fears or preconceived ideas about your business or offer.

Use persuasive and emotive language on social media, websites, adverts, email campaigns to guarantee you get noticed. Bring your individuality and authenticity to content and secure your audience’s business. Be open, genuine and people will engage more. Be you.

Your USP

The consumer has so much choice, it can be confusing. Make it easy for them to choose you by identifying what you’re doing better than anyone else. If you have a great offer show why it’s unique and why choose you over a myriad of competitors.

What’s your unique selling point (USP)? What are those features your product has that your competitors don’t? Describe the benefits of your offer, how you solve your customer’s problem and what distinguishes you from the rest.

Finally, your call to action (CTA). Your potential buyers have been intrigued by your copy, now guide them through the buying journey with strategic CTAs. The ultimate goal of any marketing campaign is to get them to make a purchase. Persuade your audience to take the leap now or regret it later.
