We had visited Smashburger long before we threw our health and body weight to the wind, so we were eager to see if it would live up to what we remember. Turns out what we remember was about right. Smashburger is better than most chains but like most chains sadly can’t quite compete with independent gourmet burgers.
We have recently been on a blue cheese craze with our burgers. Since we tried the Triple-b from 7bone we can’t get enough of it. So we chose the Stilton Stack: Chutney with rocket, haystack onions, applewood smoked bacon & stilton cheese on a Smash bun. To check out their full menu head to: https://smashburger.co.uk/menu
After ordering we went upstairs where it was completely empty and we could eat in peace. They gave us some kind of plastic tracker we guess was so they could find where we were sitting. Neat but we don’t think the used it in the end. Once the food arrived we were struck by a strange presentation that we hadn’t seen before.
The burger was presented open in two pieces, The top bun with condiments and salad in one half of the basket and the bottom bun with the patty and shredded fried onion in the other. It wasn’t a massive problem but it was kinda fiddly to put them together without everything falling out of the burger.
We gave the burger a score out of 10 in 5 categories which are: Juiciness, Bun, Flavour, Stability and Value for Money. The bun was really soft, spongy and held together well.
The haystack onions were nice and added a great crunch to the whole burger which we always like. Overall the burger was very nice but not mind blowing.
As for a few things we think could be improved, as always the patty could have been a bit pinker. The stilton was not distributed very evenly and we found ourselves eating half the burger with the stilton overwhelming everything and then hardly noticing it in the other half. In the end, we very much enjoyed the Stilton Stack. We hope that this post can tantalize your taste buds and if you do give the burger a try please comment to let us know what you thought about it.

Smokey Robinson
Patty & Bun

Patty&Bun on Ship St Brighton. We go to see if Brighton’s newest burger venue can compete with the other main players. Does the Smokey Robinson burger land in our top 10? This was our first trip to Patty&Bun and we hadn’t seen or read any reviews so we had no idea what to expect.
Wagyu Smokestack
Brighton Burger
16.2.2018
We pay Brighton Burger a visit to see what gourmet gold they have to offer. After looking through the menu there was no doubt in our minds that the Smokestack was the best choice for us. Wagyu beef topped with smoked pork, smoked cheddar & onion rings, sat on raspberry jam, onions and chilli peanut spread.
