Once again we feel the need to share our lunchtime exploits, this week covering our favourite beef burger from The Revelator pub located on Western Road: the Candie Man.
Just a few minutes walk from our office, it’s been a regular lunchtime option for us. The Revelator menu features a number of colourful and varied beef, chicken and veggie (bean) burgers, along with other options such as brisket, fried chicken and nachos. The focus of this article is the Candie Man beef burger. A ground chuck steak patty topped with butterleaf, plum tomato, candied bacon, swiss cheese, caramelised red onions and bourbon BBQ sauce. The latter being the standout ingredient. All contained within a buttered brioche bun and comes alongside a decently sized portion of creole seasoned fries.
On its own the Candie Man costs £10.50 but they do offer a deal where you can get small selection of their burgers including the Candie Man with pint of Red Stripe Beer or Strongbow for £10. Unfortunately these are the only drink options in the deal, we hope that the selection is improved or expanded in the future.
In the last blog post, we did not have a system in place for ranking the burgers but now and in any future Brighton Burger posts, we will each be giving the burger a score out of 10 in 5 categories which are: Juiciness, Bun, Flavour, Stability and Value for Money. Once we have all given our scores then an average score is calculated.
All three of us really love the Candie Man and it’s often our first choice when hungry for a burger. We hope that this post can tantalize your taste buds and if you give the burger a try please comment to let us know what you think of the Candie Man.
