We pay Brighton Burger a visit to see what gourmet gold they have to offer. After looking through the menu there was no doubt in our minds that the Smokestack was the best choice for us. Wagyu beef topped with smoked pork, smoked cheddar & onion rings, sat on raspberry jam, onions and chilli peanut spread.

We were running out of places near our office to review so we are starting to walk deeper into Brighton to fill the burger blog. That’s not to say that Brighton Burger wasn’t on our list from the very beginning. We needed an opportunity to get there and one finally presented itself.

Just in case the ingredients of this beast haven’t sunk in yet: A Wagyu Beef patty topped with smoked pork, smoked cheddar & onion rings, sat on raspberry jam, onions and chilli peanut spread. Admittedly we were sceptical, thinking that there were many things in that list that could put this burger lower down on our leaderboard if not handled properly but those thoughts were quickly extinguished.

The burger is £7.50 without the wagyu but if it’s available (£1 extra) then we highly recommend it as it made a noticeable difference, and the skinny fries added an additional £2.00. The burger was presented on a slate slab with the chips in a red plastic basket and a skewer through the burger. The presence of that skewer immediately made us think that it was gonna topple like an old skyscraper the moment we tried to handle it but it held together well enough to get through it.

We gave the burger a score out of 10 in 5 categories which are: Juiciness, Bun, Flavour, Stability and Value for Money. The wagyu was exceptional and cooked to perfection. The smoked pork was tasty and the raspberry jam and peanut sauce gave a classic combination an all new spin. We were very impressed with this burger.

As for a few things we think could be improved, We think that the smoked pork could have been more evenly shredded as it tended to leave the burger in large chunks. The Patty could have been pinker and we ended up switching to knife and fork for the last few mouthfuls and lastly, in hindsight we think a nice chilli jam would have complimented the burger overall, rather than the sweet raspberry jam. We hope that this post can tantalize your taste buds and if you do give the burger a try please comment to let us know what you thought about it.
